Dixon Greenwood Safety Award

This award was established in 1989 and is presented each year to an individual or company that best contributes to the mission of health and safety for their company and the community.

To give you a brief background on Dixon Greenwood, he was born in 1917 and worked at Union Carbide after serving in World War II.  There he was a tireless advocate of worker safety, establishing committees to help improve safety for the employees and working with various community groups.  He also founded the Ashtabula County Safety Council around 1950 by gathering safety-minded representatives from around the Ashtabula area to discuss worker safety.

Nominations for this award can be turned in to the safety council office by mid-May for this year’s consideration.  As stated on the information form, nominees may be individuals, employees, safety committee members, safety professionals, managers, or organizations that have demonstrated and maintained a high safety commitment and excellence standard.
